As we are moving toward the completion of the Advent season, the celebration of the feast of Christmas, and the welcoming of the New Year, we become ever more aware of the fulfillment of the Old Testament promises.
It’s no secret that I love a good road trip. So, when the opportunity arose to attend the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul National Assembly in Louisville, Kentucky, I knew I had to make one more stop—at the campus of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth (SCN).
Do you recall the season of Advent as a child? I do recall those four weeks with much fondness.
Food insecurity has long affected families in Leavenworth, but recent pressures, including the government shutdown and reductions to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, have made the situation more urgent.
