Charity Federation summer meeting

Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth and SCL Associates will be among the large group participating in the first-ever Assembly of the Whole of the Charity Federation, scheduled June 13-16 in Chicago. The assembly theme is “Weaving Together Unstoppable Charity.” The Sisters of Charity Federation of North America is a voluntary membership association of 14 congregations of women religious that number over 2,500 sisters. 

The assembly will be a unique opportunity for Federation members and associates to experience global community, celebrate the past, and embrace the possibilities of a collaborative future through liturgy, contemplative prayer and interactive presentations. Presenters will include  Sister Margaret “Peggy” O’Neill, SC (New Jersey), a theology professor and missionary. Sister is the founder of El Centro Arte Para la Paz, an educational and cultural center in Suchitoto, El Salvador. In October 2017, she spoke at the Vincentian Family 400th anniversary celebration in Rome, Italy. Sister Mary Sujita Kallupurakkathu, SND, served two terms in leadership with the Sisters of Notre Dame, and spoke at the 2016 assembly of the International Union of Superiors General on the topic “Solidarity for Life on the Periphery.”
