Marillac Retreat & Spirituality Center

Find God, Find Yourself, Find Peace

Life has a way of crowding out what matters most. The demands of daily life—endless to-do lists, responsibilities, distractions, and the constant pull of what feels urgent—can make it difficult to pause and recognize the presence of God. Yet, beneath the noise and busyness, there is an invitation to a deeper awareness, a broader understanding of God’s abiding presence—a love that is not distant but woven into every moment, waiting to be noticed.

Marillac Retreat & Spirituality Center, a ministry of the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, was created to provide a sacred space offering retreatants a place of peace, prayer, and renewal.

To register for a retreat or for more information, contact us at retreats@scls.org or 913-758-6552.

Our Mission

Marillac Retreat & Spirituality Center, established in the spirit of the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, provides an environment of prayer, peace, hope, and transformation.

Amid acres of trees, grassy fields, winding walkways, and sparkling fountains, you’ll find the space you need for quiet contemplation, deep reflection, rest, and renewal.

And if you’re part of a group looking for the perfect place to gather and get away, Marillac Center offers several beautiful meeting spaces that reflect the Sisters’ commitment to hospitality, stewardship, and renewal.

Named for Saint Louise de Marillac, the 17th-century Frenchwoman who, together with Saint Vincent de Paul, founded the Daughters of Charity, the Center truly embodies her commitment to prayer and loving service.

When you feel God’s loving invitation to draw closer into relationship, we invite you to schedule a visit to Marillac Center.

*Mealtimes are firmly set and out of our control. If guests need to arrive later than the start of designated mealtimes, we suggest they eat on their own and wait to arrive until after mealtime has concluded.

We have protein, starch, and vegetables for each meal, and a salad bar included with lunch and dinner. There are normally non-dairy options at each meal as well.

Our meals are provided by the food service staff that prepares meals for the Sisters and the University of Saint Mary. Most of our guests can find something in the offered meals that meets their needs. However, if your allergies are severe, we recommend bringing your own food to supplement. There are refrigerators and microwaves in the lounges on each guest floor.

Yes, guests are welcome to bring snacks. Coffee and tea are provided. We only ask that food stays in the lounge spaces or dining room and is not taken to guest rooms. We also request that instead of bringing plastic bottled water, guests bring a refillable container.

Arrival time is between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday-Friday. Because we have a brief orientation for groups, we ask that guests arrive no later than 4:00 pm. For departure, guests need to follow the directions on the yellow card in each room, leave their key cards on the room’s desk, and shut the door.

If a group needs to postpone their scheduled stay, their deposit is kept and credited toward their next stay with us. We ask for 2 weeks-notice to postpone a stay, however we understand weather or emergency cancellations may occur in a shorter timeframe.

Yes! The Marillac Retreat Center sits on more than 200 acres, sharing a campus with the Sisters of Charity and the University of Saint Mary. Guests have access to walking paths, a labyrinth, and a prayer grotto.

The entire campus of the Sisters of Charity, Marillac Center, and University of Saint Mary is smoke and tobacco free.

Adults over the age of 18 who are seeking a quiet place to retreat, rest, and enter a prayerful state are welcome to stay at Marillac. Because of the way we are situated on the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth campus, we are unable to welcome infants, children, and pets.

As Marillac shares common spaces with both the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Mother House and Ross Hall assisted living, we ask that the utmost consideration and care be taken when discerning your presence. Marillac is always happy to reschedule your stay here at Marillac.

No, the Marillac team works regular weekday hours and is not on campus in the evenings or on weekends.
