Sister Barbara Reid, OP
Sr. Barbara Reid is a Dominican Sister of Grand Rapids, MI. She has served on the CTU faculty since 1988 and was Vice President and Academic Dean. She has led many of CTU’s Israel Retreats and Biblical Lands Study Programs in Greece, Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, Israel, and the Palestinian Territories. She has given presentations in México, Bolivia, Perú, Uruguay, Brazil, Guatemala, Santo Domingo, and lectured in Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the Philippines, Thailand, and Rome.
As a biblical retreat, Clothe Yourself with Compassion Retreat begins with a reflection of God’s rahamin, womb compassion, as visible in creation and covenantal fidelity, and culminates in the gift of Jesus. We will reflect on gospel episodes that feature how Jesus, as Holy Wisdom incarnate, embodies divine compassion in his acts of feeding, healing, and resuscitating. Through parables, Jesus points the way for us to be compassionate as is our God. We will explore Jesus’ ultimate revelation of divine compassion in his passion, death, and resurrection. The Jubilee Year of Hope has concluded, yet the call to live daily jubilee justice and hope remains. Our prayer will include times for silence, personal prayer, and individual accompaniment if requested.
