All journeys for believers deepen us in faith, renew us in hope, and strengthen us in love. Authentically living what we believe, we know that “The sun of justice will shine on you.” (Malachi 3:20a) What holy doors continue to open for Pilgrims of Hope? The Autumn Season, with light and darkness, with cool and crisp air, with falling leaves and empty flowerbeds, opens doors of hope. Christ the King of the Universe, concluding our liturgical year, opens doors of hope. Thanksgiving Celebrations, as a time of gratitude with family and friends, open doors of hope.
Surprised by what we see, or the brisk air we feel, we foster hope in the goodness of human nature.
On November 15, Sister Susan Chase gathered people at Marillac to reflect upon The Spiritual Wisdom of Trees and what appears dormant and aged, strengthens us in our identity.
“To the extent that he reigns within us, the life of society will be a setting for universal fraternity, justice, peace, and dignity.” (Dilexit Te, #97)
“It is wisdom to pause, to look back and see by what straight or twisting ways we have arrived at the place we find ourselves.” (Mother Xavier Ross)
Pilgrims of hope in the midst of much change. Our way of life helps us deepen in our faith and act in love? Charity is practiced in both word and deed. Living in hope allows the Spirit to move in us, overcoming fears and unknowns, and mending the hurts that divide us. The Holy Spirit frees us to welcome, hear, receive, reflect, and live in hope – with our whole being – so we are changing our world into a better home for all.
