Pentecost
by William Blake
Unless the eye catch fire,
The God will not be seen.
Unless the ear catch fire
The God will not be heard.
Unless the tongue catch fire
The God will not be named.
Unless the heart catch fire,
The God will not be loved.
Unless the mind catch fire,
The God will not be known.
by Sister Susan Chase, SCL
The Holy Spirit has been given to us and dwells within us. We can think of the Holy Spirit as the “immediacy of God,” always at work in us. When we believe this and trust it, our awareness becomes more sensitive, and we notice the Spirit present in the Word of Scripture and in receiving Eucharist and the other sacraments. We can deepen our awareness of the Reality at the center of our being. We can become attuned to the nudging Spirit inviting us to pray, inviting us to love. (The Catholic Catechism no 688)
As we go forth into the summer, may we catch the Spirit’s fire!!
