A spiritual retreat during Advent (or anytime throughout the year) is the perfect way to realign one’s focus and immerse in the true essence of the sacred nature of this life we have been given. Retreats provide a sanctuary from the chaos of everyday life, allowing the soul to breathe, listen, and be transformed. It encourages us to live life as a human being rather than a human doing. It is a sacred pause that fosters deeper connections with God and with oneself. As the world around us continues its hurried march toward December 25th, taking time to pray and retreat allows for a return to what truly matters: the gift of presence, the quiet anticipation, and the boundless joy of welcoming Christ into our lives and hearts.
During Advent, this kind of withdrawal is invaluable. It opens the door to pondering profound questions: What does the coming of Christ mean to me personally? How can I embody the hope, peace, joy, and love that this season – and this life – represents? These are not questions easily answered amid the cacophony of the holidays. They require space, time, and quiet where the presence of the Divine is waiting.
This Advent, you are invited to join us in our final Linger over Coffee session on Tuesday mornings, December 17 from 9:00-11:00 am. The Sisters will offer reflections on intriguing saints and highlight how their lives and methods of prayer encourage us to deepen our prayer lives. You are invited to end your morning with Mass with the Sisters at 11:00 am.
Do you have someone who is hard to shop for? This Christmas, consider giving the gift of Spiritual Direction with one of our trained Directors, or gift a loved one with a Marillac retreat. Whether it’s for a day, a weekend, or a week, the gift of time with the Divine rejuvenates the spirit and brings a peace that only God can give. If you want more information about our retreats, email us at retreats@scls.org
The Staff at Marillac Retreat & Spirituality Center wish you a blessed Advent and Christmas Season. If there is anything we can do to support you on your faith journey in the coming year, please contact us. Your retreat is waiting for you.
Blessings and Peace,
