Welcome to a New Season

By Sister Noreen Walter, SCL

Welcome to a new season—springtime. What will this spring hold for you on your journey of faith? We have just finished the holy season of Lent and are entering Easter to Pentecost. These are the 50 days of Easter, and we are in them!

Many events are happening during these days. The Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth renew our vows. Our SCL Associates renew their commitment. This annual renewal is on the feast of the Annunciation. This year, this feast, and our renewal is celebrated on April 8th and not the traditional March 25 which occurred during Holy Week.

I invite you to this new season to think of your own spring-like event or spring transformation. Marillac Center offers you opportunities for a time of retreat. Thursday, May 9, is the feast of St. Louise de Marillac. You are invited to take some time away and rest in the spirit of Louise. Her life, like many of ours, was filled with activities and work, planning for those in need. Yet, Louise was a person of deep prayer. She found time to renew herself in the Lord. She was a mystic. We conclude our Spring retreat offerings with Sr. Wendy Cotter, CSJ’s Scripture Retreat on the Gospel of Mark.

Consider taking time away from the hustle and bustle of your daily life. This Spring might be that time for you. You are welcome to come to Marillac for a day, a few days, a week, or whatever fits your schedule. A time for “getting away” will renew you. We have people on staff to help direct you on your journey, or you may have a self-directed time for deepening in prayer. Consider this your invitation to a renewing Spring! Blessings to all of you!

Consider joining us at Marilac Center for one of the following events:

During “The Cost of Discipleship” retreat, we join the first disciples, and listen to Jesus’ words, be taught by his outreach, and respond once more to his call to us, along the pathway of love, to holiness, to outreach to God’s children, and to recommit ourselves, with all our hearts to bring ever nearer, the Kingdom of God.
