Sister Anita Sullivan Named Grand Marshal for 2026 Saint Patrick’s Day Parade

A joyful surprise unfolded at the end of Mass on February 4, 2026, when members of the Leavenworth St. Patrick’s Day Parade planning committee stepped forward with a bouquet of green, white, and orange flowers, and a big announcement.

Sister Anita Sullivan has been chosen as the Grand Marshal of the 43rd annual Leavenworth St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Members of the St. Patrick’s Day planning committee announced Sister Anita as the 2026 Grand Marshal after morning Mass.

The honor came as a complete surprise to Sister Anita, prompting plenty of smiles and applause among the Sisters. In accepting the honor, Sister Anita shared that she is proud of her Irish heritage and deeply grateful for the opportunity. She said she is honored to serve as Grand Marshal for the 2026 celebration.

The Leavenworth, Kansas, Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade Facebook page echoed the joy of the moment, posting, “Fun day for the St. Patrick’s Day committee. Sister Anita was very surprised!!”

The Community looks forward to celebrating alongside Sister Anita as she leads the parade on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, Irish pride shining bright.
