Healthcare Access

Advocating for Healthcare for All
The JPIC Office and a number of Sisters have worked to advance the passage of Medicaid Expansion in Kansas, which would provide more affordable healthcare access to approximately 165,000 Kansans who cannot currently afford insurance coverage.
Believing in Catholic Social Teaching that “Health is not a consumer good, but rather a universal right,” we continue to advocate for a more just and equitable health care system in the United States that recognizes the human dignity of those who are ill and experiencing poverty. As one NETWORK Letter released in 2020 read, which many of our Sisters supported, “Guided by our values of Catholic Social Justice, we believe it is deeply immoral for anyone in our country to go without medical care.”
