Office of Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation

About Our Office and the SCL’S Commitment to Justice

The Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth’s Office of Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation (also known as the JPIC Office) was formally established in the summer of 2018 with the vision of supporting the Community’s interest groups and carrying on the legacy of social justice advocacy championed by Sisters Marie de Paul Combo, Therese Bangert, and many other SCLs past and present.

Our Sisters, “Affirm our call to communion and mission as women of the Church. In the spirit of our heritage, we continue to seek the path of charity and justice in our day. Mindful of the fragility of the earth and of the suffering of God’s people, especially the exploited and marginalized, we commit ourselves to address these critical needs and their systemic causes.”

In addition to being charged with carrying out the mission of social justice, the JPIC Office works to empower Sisters and Associates to advocate and lead on initiatives that embody the mission, history, and charism of the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth.

Our Mission

The mission of the Office of Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation is to advocate for justice and systemic change for exploited and marginalized people through education, advocacy, and action. We work in collaboration with Sisters, Associates, and partner organizations.
