As we mark the end of our first year of planning and formation, the Integral Ecology Initiative (IEI) is thrilled to share some exciting updates – starting with our brand Identity. Our new logo, inspired by earth tones and the elements of nature, symbolizes the interconnectedness of the planet and her people and reflects the heart of our mission.
From Social Justice to Just Cause
The IEI isn’t just another project—it’s a movement, and you’re a part of it. The problems we face are so overwhelming that for lasting transformation to happen, we have to think bigger and work together. Our mission is to tackle interconnected social and environmental crises with a holistic approach, recognizing the profound link between the health of our planet and the well-being of its most vulnerable people.
This collaborative model integrates our longtime individual social justice work and leverages collective strengths, resources, and expertise to expand the scope of our impact and advance our Just Cause:
Create lasting, transformative change and empower marginalized communities to participate fully in improving their own lives by building learning communities to address urgent social and environmental challenges.
We’ve established two ambitious goals to challenge ourselves and hold each other accountable:
- Achieve carbon neutrality by 2030
- Build thriving communities that meet essential needs like housing, health, and safety
What’s Next?
Now that we’ve got our new look— and, more importantly, a plan for achieving our goals —we begin the work of implementation.
Over the months and years ahead, we’ll engage experts, create education curricula, and expand our circle. We’ll share our learnings and apply them to work we already have underway while also exploring new ideas developed in partnership.
So, get ready to hear a lot more from us and stay tuned for regular monthly updates about our activities, progress, and ways you can join with us to make a lasting impact.
Building a Bridge Toward a Better Tomorrow
It is fitting that the completion of the IEI’s formational first year coincides with the election of our new Pope Leo XIV, who shares with us a deep connection to Peru and compassion for vulnerable people everywhere. This is also a time to honor Pope Francis’s legacy by continuing to heed the call of his Laudato Si’. Just as we celebrate our long tradition of social justice work, the IEI calls us to recommit to our mission and move forward into action.
The success of our collective movement depends on the dedication of leaders like you. Your passion is the fuel for the journey we’re about to take together. United, we can empower communities, protect our planet, and renew hope for a better tomorrow for future generations.
