2025 Lenten Journey, part 2

by Father Kevin Cullen, S.J.

Our Lenten reflections and journeys lead us to celebrate the holy week of Triduum and Easter.  Today, we near the feast of St. Joseph, another holy life that reveals to us the way to be transformed in this world.  We remain committed to our Lenten Journey and the practices we have established in order for our hearts to be changed.

Our Spiritual foundation allows us to join with women and men around the world opening Holy Doors during this Jubilee year of Hope.  Holy doors that are internal … a deepening in my prayer with our God.  Holy doors that are external … a deepening in relationship with one another, especially our neighbor whom I may not know.  And Holy doors that are physical … a deepening in connecting to creation and our earth’s needs.  We are Pilgrims of Hope!

This ancient practice of our Church invites us to slow down, prayerfully reflect, and recognize again how God’s love invites us to Hope.  Like the early followers of Jesus, we know our change of heart is received, in order to be given.  Our world journeys through the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Christ again this year.  Our ways of living those graces bring hope and new life into the world.

The Triduum Rituals and prayer allow us to join the larger community of believers in receiving God’s love in order to change our world.  We live these holy days and rituals without distractions.  God’s love invites us to Hope.  We know the call that God makes is gentle but clear …  we move toward right relationship with God, with one another, and with creation.  Our Lenten journey concludes with the Easter Season as a time of renewed hope.

Though our Lenten journey ends, God constantly invites us into deeper relationships. Please consider attending our 4-day (June 12-15) or 8-day (June 12-19) silent, directed retreat (registration below). You will have the opportunity to meet daily with a spiritual director, find God in prayer and exploration around our beautiful grounds, and step away from the busyness of life to listen for that still, small voice of Love.
