School is in session in Chuschi, Peru. Pictured are students in the classroom of Hermana Liduvina Dóminguez Córdova Liduvina, professor of religion at Ramon Castilla School. Her students are analyzing and reflecting upon Biblical texts. This class includes 28 students who are 15 and 16 years old. Hermana Liduvina says on Wednesdays the youth wear their typical clothing; other days, they are in uniform. Chuschi is a village in the Andes Mountains.
Also serving in Chuschi, Hermana Susanna Córdova Castillo shared news about a recent meeting of a CONFER group. (CONFER is the Conference of Major Superiors of Religious of Peru. It is made up of the Major Superiors of the Religious Institutes and of the Societies of Apostolic Life. It appears to be similar to LCWR or UISG with regional groups and gatherings.) Hermana Susana explains that these meetings include sharing, celebration and encouragement about community life and mission. Participants in the recent meeting included sisters of six congregations, from different places and continents – Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Africa and India, representing diversity. The group below represents sisters in the Peruvian Andes. Hermana Susana is seated second from the right.
