Since February 1971, the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth have had a presence serving the people of Chalaco and the surrounding villages high in the Andes Mountains of Peru. Today, those ministries continue, offered by Hermanas de la Caridad, native Peruvian members of the SCL Community.
Hermanas Deidy and Lourdes Abad Pulachy, sisters and Hermanas, recently shared photographs capturing the spirit and range of their ministry to youth and their families in the area. Hermana Deidy (with green book) is pictured above with youth.
The Hermanas and youth walked the seven-hour journey from Chalaco to Silahua. Hermana Deidy is pictured above.
The Hermanas and youth went to the village of Silahua for Holy Week observances leading up to Easter.
