Marillac Center, the retreat and spirituality center of the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth (SCLs), has several programs on the calendar for the upcoming season of Advent. These include Taize prayer, Linger over Coffee and an Advent Day of Prayer.
Persons of all Christian traditions are invited to participate in Taizé prayer on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. in Annunciation Chapel on the campus of the SCL Mother House, 4200 S. 4th Street, Leavenworth, Kan. Taizé prayer is a meditative, candlelit service that includes simple chants sung repeatedly, silence, and prayers of praise and intercession.
Linger over Coffee
Join the staff of Marillac Center for “Linger over Coffee” on the Tuesdays during Advent – Dec. 4, 11 and 18 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. This will be a time for prayer, input and conversation. Participants are invited to make a free will offering for this spiritual opportunity. Theme for Linger Over Coffee is “Advent Reflections 2018 – Paths to Peace.”

Advent Day of Prayer
Father Joe Nassal, CPPS, will give the Advent Day of Prayer, on Saturday, Dec. 8, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the theme “Mary’s Magnificat: Proclaiming the Greatness of God.” Father Nassal is provincial director of the Kansas City Province of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood. His books include The Conspiracy of Compassion, Rest Stops for the Soul, Premeditated Mercy, Moments of Truth, and Stations of the Crib. He has been engaged in retreat, renewal and reconciliation ministry since 1988.
Father Nassal will discuss Mary, the mother of Jesus, as a model of missionary discipleship as demonstrated by her heart for the poor, people on the margins, the wounded and weak. The day of reflection will explore each person’s call to discipleship. Father Nassal will offer Mass during the day in observance of the holyday of obligation.
Donation for this retreat is $35 and includes lunch. Registration deadline is Nov. 30.
