Coordinator of Pastoral Care, Motherhouse and Ross Hall

Job Summary:
At the heart of the ministry of pastoral care is the ability to be truly present to each Sister, establish good rapport with the Sisters and staff at the Mother House and Ross Hall within an environment of hospitality, peace, and spirituality promoting the well-being of the body, mind, and spirit of each Sister. It is a ministry of presence and active/attentive listening.
Responsibilities:
- Attend to the pastoral care needs of the Sisters of the Mother House and Ross Hall
- Model a ministry of presence
- Assist in ensuring an environment that fosters a spirit of hospitality and healthy eldering
- Participate as a member of the Communal Life Team in implementing goals established by the team
- Provide pastoral visits with each Sister to form, establish, and maintain relationships
- Provide a pastoral presence to and assist Sisters in their times of needs
- Be present to the dying and provide a ritual service
- Work collaboratively with the other staff in caring for the pastoral needs of the Sisters
- Provide spiritual opportunities for and with the Sisters based upon resident input
- In collaboration with the Communal Life Team, visit Sisters who are hospitalized
- Coordinate funeral services, offer hospitality to family members, and provide communication with families of deceased Sisters as appropriate
- Assist in reviewing, clarifying, and completing the Sisters’ Advance Directives and family information
Position Qualifications:
- Clinical Pastoral Education certificate or Professional Certificate in Spiritual Gerontology or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the principal duties of the job
- Experience working professionally as a Pastoral Care team member preferably with elderly
- Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the principal duties of the job

- Knowledge of theology, gerontology, and issues of death, dying, and grief
- Knowledge of health care procedures and their ethical ramifications
- Deep listening and active listening skills
- Ability to maintain confidences
- Ability to work well as a team member
- Ability to be in touch with own feelings
- Ability to be present pastorally to the Sisters
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to sit; walk throughout the buildings;
- Must be able to have clear and understandable speech; must hear well
- Be able to lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Have vision abilities required for close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
