SCL Officers brought a multicultural focus to the program during this year’s Christmas dinner hosted on Dec. 20 for Sisters living at Ross Hall and the Mother House. The five officers portrayed staff of Bethlehem Inn and pilgrims who journeyed to this location in search of lodging.

In the process of storytelling, the SCL leaders shared information about ways different cultures and ethnic groups celebrate the birth of Christ. Images of the Madonna and Child provided the backdrop for their presentations and were the heart of the program. The Sisters discussed Christmas observances and traditions in Haiti, Syria, Mexico, Peru, Ghana and Native American cultures. They interspersed Christmas carols throughout the program. At one point in the evening, Sister Rita Orleans (pictured above) placed the Infant Jesus in the Nativity scene.
