					Ongoing Formation
					On-Going Formation is a standing committee of the SCL community. New members’ names are suggested by the committee and submitted to the Community Director and her Council for appointment. Appointments are for three years with the option for renewal for a second term. We become Sisters of Charity in the fullest sense over a lifetime by being Gospel-centered by constant renewal in Christ by spending our lives in service to others by living up to the name we bear: Sister of Charity. (Constitution Norm 46) The sisters and associates on the on-going formation committee “share the responsibility to promote cohesion, continuity and sequence in the lifetime process of growth.” (Norm 40) Our Mission Statement as a Committee On going formation provides opportunities for the sister [or associate] to grow and develop personally and spiritually, to be prepared professionally for her apostolic ministry, and to renew her energies. (Directive 6.16) Return to top ************ Considering each Sister of Charity of Leavenworth as a woman religious— called by God to live the Gospel enriched by vowed life in community drawn by Jesus and needs of his people an ecclesial woman— committed to the global mission of the church blessed with gifts for ministry with the people of God baptized into and fed by the Body of Christ, confirmed in faith a professional woman— model and partner in ministry with God’s people dedicated to learning what a ministry requires maturing in resources, social interaction, and personal taste what does each calling and identity imply for formation and development— in liturgy, creative and participative, embracing cultures of contact in prayer, communal and personal, directed to contemplation in learning through study, reading, and conversation in community life and expectations as Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth in meaning of vows to be lived as visible countercultural signs in personal counsel and spiritual direction in uses of leisure as relaxation, source of growth, contribution to community in relationships with family, friends, colleagues, ecclesial partners in ministry as participation in mission of God realized in Jesus S.
