VOICES OF CHARITY

Who Are SCL Associates?

SCL Associates (SCLAs) are individuals who strive to model the lives of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Louise de Marillac and Mother Xavier Ross – lives of simplicity, humility and charity. Associates believe in and pattern in many ways the lives of Sisters, finding mutual support in good works, prayer, and celebration of life and love.

How Do I Become an SCL Associate?

The Associate Program is open to Christian women and men who:

  • wish to share in the mission, vision and values of the Sisters of Charity,
  • are interested in on-going personal and spiritual growth,
  • agree to partner with the Sisters of Charity in on-going projects,
  • are 18 years of age or older, and agree to participate in the process of the Associate Program.

Associates are required to participate in a “Come and See” Year. Upon successful completion of that program, Associates are officially accepted into the program. They then renew their individual commitment annually

Sister Sharon Smith, Associate Director, and SCL Associate Therese Horvat share a light moment during the SCL 2004 Chapter.

Associates gather locally and regionally to support each other, collaborate with and support the work of the Sisters, further the mission of the Church and participate in on-going programs to encourage spiritual growth. SCLAs are also invited to most activities and events sponsored by the Sisters.

For more information on the SCL Associate Program, contact Sister Sharon Smith, Vocation Director, at 913-758-6522 or e-mail ssmith@scls.org.
