VOICES OF CHARITY

Sister Sharon Smith
Vocation Director
ssmith@scls.org

Welcome! Thank you for visiting our website!

Perhaps you are interested in learning more about vowed religious life. For me, religious life has been a wonderful gift and has offered meaning and purpose to my life. Being a Sister of Charity of Leavenworth invites and challenges me to be my best self. While women today have many opportunities to serve the Church in various capacities, religious life offers women a unique way to dedicate their lives to God.

As religious women we are called to live in community, called to share our prayer, our ministry, our gifts and our lives with one another. Our shared commitment empowers us to go forth to live the gospel in our world. As a community, we embrace a common vision: we commit ourselves to love the poor, to love one another, to live simply and to unite the whole of our lives in the poor and loving Christ. As religious women, we are called to vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, and it is these vows that shape who we are and how we live out our lives in the world.

If you would like more information on religious life or the vows, I invite you to contact me at ssmith@scls.org. If you are considering religious life, I invite you to consider being a Sister of Charity of Leavenworth. We would be happy to enter into a process of prayerful decision-making with you as you seek a life that will bring you purpose and fulfillment. Also, be sure to check out programs or retreats coming up this year. Click here for details.

Thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to hearing from you!
