125th Birthday week at Mount Saint Vincent Home
It was a wonderful 125th Birthday week at Mount Saint Vincent Home last week. Children, staff, sisters and guests celebrated with parties, cake, mass, speeches, tours, and cake (we had two!)
Our first day of celebration on Thursday began with a staff meeting and Mother Xavier (aka Sister Maureen) telling her story and that of Mount Saint Vincent Home. At the children’s party later in the day, each class presented something that was 125. One class made a paper chain with 125 links, another listed 125 books they’ve read. And one class donated 125 quarters to MSV.

All the children arrived at the party by walking through an arch of 125 balloons.

During the offertory, Pete Zarlengo, current volunteer and former resident carried the record book of handwritten names of children who lived at Mount St. Vincent Home in the early days. John Laur, SCL Associate assists.
There was an article in the Rocky Mountain News on Pete Zarlengo. Attached is the link to the story.

Sister Roberta and Margy Moseley, Saint Mary graduate and former staff member of MSV enjoy reminiscing about the good old days (in the 80’s!)
One classroom wrote the following and read it at our party. I share it with you as a closing – and a beginning -- of another 125 years of service to children.
The Happy Birthday Poem
It’s Mount Saint Vincent’s birthday,
It’s a very nice place to stay.
We learn, we care, we pray,
And then go on our way.
You can challenge your teacher to a race,
You can take a trip to outer space.
You’ll always see a friendly face,
Because MSV is a wonderful place.
On behalf of the sisters, staff and children of Mount Saint Vincent Home, thank you for your continued prayers and support of this ministry. -Sister Amy
